This time I’m going on a pretty similar adventure like I had in Citarik, Sukabumi. This new adventure takes place in the most historical site in Indonesia, probably in the world.

Elo River Rafting Adventure

It’s a Rafting Adventure at the Elo River that is located between the famous Borobudur Temple (the largest Buddhist temple in the world) and Mendut Temple complex. It’s about 45 minutes drive from the City of Yogyakarta.

This rafting adventure has a level of I to III, beginner level, which is a 12 km course downstream. And getting to the finish line will need about 3 to 4 hours through the river rapids.

And there are various rapids and challenges along the river, so you won’t get bored. In fact some people would constantly be in the edge of their seats if this is their first time, but nevertheless it’s still is an exciting adventure to go through the river rapids.

And it’s relatively safe, because you’ll always be accompanied by at least one guide. The formation usually is a seven man raft, 6 passenger and one guide. Besides, you are each equipped with life-jacket, helmet, and oars.

Elo River Rafting Team

And as I said before, all of us then were equipped with the life-jacket, helmet, and oars each with matching colors. And we got a short briefing for safety and rescue procedures, and of course a prayer before getting aboard the rafts. So nothing to worry, just have fun.

The view along the river is quite nice. We can see dark green trees, bushes, and vines dangling down to the river. We also got to see a suspension bridge on the way to the finish line. And you can only see so much only in the first kilometers of the river, before it starts getting wilder and wilder.
At this time, there’s no time for you to go sightseeing, you are either too busy rowing the boat, panicking, praying (again), screaming, or carefully listening to your guide instructions. LOL It was truly enjoyable and fun.

If I could, I would go there again with my friends or family to try the more advanced course that have a level IV, intermediate where the river rapids is more demanding and it takes about 4 to 5 hours to finish, the guide said.

How about you guys? Have you tried any Whitewater rafting before? No? Well you should! It’s great, especially if you do it with your best friends and family. Totally wicked!
